Spinal Decompression Therapy at The Matlock Center
Spinal Decompression Therapy involves stretching the spine, using a traction table or similar motorized device. The goal of the treatment is to relieve pressure off of an effected nerve thus relieving neck, back, arm, hand, leg and/or foot pain / numbness / tingling. These symptoms can be commonly related to a vertebral disc bulge or disc herniation with an impingement of a spinal nerve. At The Matlock Center we use Spinal Decompression Therapy in conjunction with Physical Therapy when treating herniated or bulging discs. In some cases conservative Chiropractic adjustments may also be utilized, when warranted. This spinal decompression procedure is recognized as a: nonsurgical therapy (as opposed to surgical spinal decompression, such as laminectomy and microdiscectomy).
